So True/Wash is R.Kitt's first release of 2024. It is the first single in a series that will be compiled as an album release next year. These forthcoming singles will explore the depth and range of Kitt’s productions.

The first release marks a significant evolution in Kitt’s style. So True opens as a misty glitched out ambient track, featuring Risteárd Ó hAodha on cello, before melodically unfolding into a deep, breaky house bopper with a lush vocal from Kitt himself. Wash is evocative and beatless, featuring string samples, spectral electronics, Kitt’s field recordings and deep bass synthesis to devastating emotional effect. It is the instrumental of a track which will later feature Elaine Howley, to be released as part of that album due next year.

“So True is the first track I’ve written that is largely focused on the vocal. It’s also the first track I’ve ever released with my own sung vocal on it. In making this record, I think I finally released that my instrument for making music has always been my voice. I’ve just never known how to use that instrument directly in music making. So True is the first song I’ve felt like I needed to sing on.”
