Orainn is a new label set up by R.Kitt. Over the coming months, the label will serve as an outlet to release much of the productions that have been highlights of R.Kitt's live show from 2019 and more recently. Orainn means "on us" in Irish. The name references how emotion is described in Irish language. A person doesn't say that they are feeling something in Irish but rather they say that that feeling is on them. This description of emotion seems to be a far more accurately transient way to view emotion than the rather static English alternative. Music is fundamentally an emotional form of communication, and one of the most profound places where that musical emotional experience can be shared is on the dancefloor. Joined together by rhythm and movement, the strength of the emotional experiences of those moments are not generated by one of us, but by the gathered power of all of us. That feeling is not just on you or on me, but it is on us, Orainn.

The first release is a high energy 4 track EP coloured by shades of dystopian catharsis. The "A side" starts with "If Not Rising", an off-kilter, agitated electro track accelerated by out of control arpeggios and intricate rhythms, briefly refraining with other-worldly melodic relief, before setting off again at fast pace. Following this, "What You Want" strikes a more playful tone. Chunky rhythms support a twisted, dancing melodic lead and a wry, laconic vocal line. The "B side" opens with "Wait", a rolling techno heater that summons the feeling of the world ending in a moment of deep heartbreak. It's awash with nostalgia and regret driven by deeply emotional synth and string sections and the sound of a sad singing robot. The EP is rounded off by Breathe and Release, a simple track of building latin percussion and pentatonic melodies that strikes a slightly uncertain celebratory tone, and reaches an apex with an seriously catchy lead synth line before rolling back down from the peak we had just climbed.
